When it comes to the absolute "laws" of humanity, taking of innocent lives for the mere purpose of taking lives is always wrong. Old, young - it doesn't matter. It's wrong.

When this is done, threshold for call to action has been crossed. Period.

That threshold was crossed a long time ago, not in Russia. To state otherwise is insulting and flat out wrong.

My "for the chldren" comment was facetious, and was referring to what goes on here in the States.

I won't say the rest of what I was going to say, because I'm generalizing about the Brits. And God knows, we never paint with a broad bush on THIS board.

Trav and I were in NYC in October, 2001. Everytime I need a reminder about why my nephew and others have been sent to Iraq, I look at the pictures.

I'm more than outraged.

The Madrid bombings were in May (I'm thinking Mother's Day weekend)? We were there the end of April, and the rally was to leagalize pot.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well let me leave it open to GL and say don't I feel stupid. I wondered why the change of heart. For a moment I felt so... all alone. I think the reference to Sean's children threw me. I understand his sentiment, but it doesn't fit into the totality of the discussion.

As you can see, I'm rather passionate about the topic. This delineation between the murder of innocent adults vs. the murder innocent children is downright creepy. I find them both so disturbing that I still can't fathom that I'm arguing that relative evil of the two.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I was in NYC August 2001. I took the subway too far, and ended up underneath the twin towers. I was on my way to a business lunch in midtown but considered stopping in the towers to meet up with someone who works for the regulatory agencies.

I decided I didn't have enough time, and got on the subway back.

As it turns out, the guy in the towers worked in 7 World Trade, which collapsed later in the day, so he was safe.

But I think back to how the devastation happened to ordinary people like you and me. It could just as easily have been me underneath watching it happen. It's all a matter of chance, and all so pointless.

I know I'll get flamed, but Islam is NOT a religion of peace.

The western world needs to understand that.

I still can't figure out why only this latest incident was heinous enough for you. You were shocked by 9-11, but apparently not shocked enough; nor was that enough for the muslim popultion to express outrage. This begs an explanation.

There's a huge disconnect here. You've never explained why past attrocities did not warrant outrage.
